3. The dissertation presents a complex analysis of verb polysemy in Modern German on the basis of the quan-titative, semantic, morphological, stylistic and phono-logical characteristics of the verbs. Мethods of the investigation are statystical, component and wordbuil-ding analysis. The research revea-led interdependence between the following parameters inherent in polyse-mantic verbs: number of verb mea-nings and the verb semantics; quantity of verb mea-nings and the frequency of use; semantic volume of verb and its stylistic status as well as its morphological and phonological struc-ture. The interrelation between the polysemy and the lexico-semantic paradigms (homonymy, synonymy, antonymy) was determined. The average number of verb meanings, the characte-ristics and the distribution types of polysemantic verbs were established. The results are used in teaching lexicology, stylistics, morphology as well as phonetics.
