Essay

- The study was devoted to the investigation of antianginal and antihypertensive effect of Nicorandil - the domestic drug from new perspective group of potassium channel openers. 104 pts were observed with stable angina pectoris, 54 among tham had concomitant arterial hypertension. Nicorandil increased tolerance to bicycle testing performance up to one stage in 71-73% pts, antiischemic duration of effect was nearly 12 hours. Тhe number of pain as well as painless ischemia episodes droped by Holter monitoring data. Nicorandil lowered blood pressure in a daily dose 40-60 mg. its antihypertensive effect was less than antiischemic one (duration 8 - 12 hours ). Nicorandil effectiveness marcedly increased in combination with b-blockers and calcium entry blockers. Side-effects (as headache) was expected and did not require cancellation.
