Essay

Main surface and vacuum physical phenomena limiting the accelerating field are investigated. The goal of investigations is a possibility of the beam energy and beam quality increasing studies. It is established that breakdowns not only clean a surface, but also simultaneously create films reducing the electrical strength. The matter of this phenomenon is connected with atmospheric and vacuum contamination. It is shown that possibilities of the accelerating gradient increasing are connected with a diminution of a surface sorption capacity. The application of results is connected with the technology development of the accelerating structure production. The using field of results is covered prices high-energy beams formation, power electronics and electrophysical device development.
