Verfremdungseffekt in literature. Research the genesis of V-effekt as a theoretical literary category and its poetics. Methods applied: integral analysis of literary works, methods of system and comparison. It's the first time V-effekt has been analysed as theoretical not a historical category. V-effekt's specific characteristics in epos, lyrics and drama have been defined. The results can be used in the process of working out general and special courses on history and theory of literature, aesthetics.
