Object of research: substantive metaphorical compounds of American slang. Aim of the research: definition of the features of the compound metaphors microsystem by discovering their word-forming, structural and semantic pecularities. Methods of research: lexicographical, components, vocabulary definitions, comparative, transformational and immediate constituants analysis and calculation. Theoretical and practical achievements of the research are revealed in obtaining new data about the compound metaphors of American slang. Novelty of the innovation: quantative and qualitative parameters of the compound metaphors microsystem have been firstly determined. Level of introduction: results obtained are applied in the courses of Present-day English Lexicology, optional courses of Word-formation, Direct and Indirect Nomination. Sphere of attribution: teaching communication at the classes in Practical English, training students for carrying out scientific research, in practical lexicography.
