Essay

The dissertation is devoted to developing the consequences of the Young model of diffraction phenomena in holography and optical correlation data processing. Original holographic technique for a contour imaging is substantiated. Imaging and associative properties of referenceless recording of near-field and far-field diffraction patterns, i.e. Young holograms, are recognized, as well as properties of lin-ear and nonlinear off-axis Young holograms recorded with a simple reference wave or the combined one. The contouring effect in a phase-conjugate associative response of a static nonlinear Young hologram re-constructed in the self-conjugation fashion and in the double-phase conjugation one has been predicted and realized. An original algorithm for implementation of an optical wavelet-transform intended for edge detection that is based on a nonlinear Young hologram is proposed.
