The thesis deals with communicative and pragmatic peculiarities of conflict strategies and tactics realized under the circumstances of argument and quarrel. Respective criteria of discourse production are singled out, linguistic and extralinguistic characteristics of both static and dynamic aspects of conflict discourse are analyzed from the point of view of the speakers' communicative status, role and observance or break of the conventional communication rules. The schemes of typical conflict situations presented are accompanied by a description of relevant means of verbal impact. The role of the speakers' emotional state is evaluated as contributing to the linguistic representation of discourse communicative strategies. Classification of speech tactics is based on the emotional state factor and includes rational, emotional and emotio-rational impact. The description of lexical, lexical-syntactic, syntactic and pragmatic linguistic means of their realization is given. Basic linguistic and extralinguis tic characteristics of conflict speech behavior considered of two types are represented in argumentative and verbally aggressive discourses. The latter are analyzed according to their main communicative strategies and means of their realization on the tactical and operative levels.
