Essay

The thesis deals with the synthesis of heterochalcogen chloride compounds of rhenium and osmium. In the systems MxOy-S-Se2Cl2 аnd MxOy-Se-S2Cl2 (where M - Re(VII), Os(VIII)) seven unknown thioselenochlorides have been synthesized for the first time. Fourteen more novel rhenium and osmium compounds have been synthesized by thermal transformations of the thioselenochlorides obtained; in these compounds, the chlorine content gradually decreases and the cluster centres (Re3( аnd (Os10( are formed with rising temperature. The role of selenium in the formation of cluster structures of the metals has been established. All compounds prepared have been investigated using chemical analysis, IR spectroscopy, magnetochemistry and X-ray phase analysis. The results of X-ray structure analysis of Re3S7Cl7 and Re3S5Se2Cl7 showed them to have the structure (Re3((3-Chal)((-Chal2)3Cl6(+Cl( (where Chal - S, Se). In the heterochalcogen chloride (Re3((3-S)((-S1,2Se0,8)3Cl6(+Cl( common coordination of rhenium atoms by sulfur and selenium atoms has been proved for the first time by X-ray structure analysis.
