The thesis is devoted to the problems of clinic, diagnostics, prevention and treatment of salivary glands complications, which appear during the telegammatherapy course and after its completion at the patients with head and neck malignant tumors. It was proved experimentally that the irradiation of the head and neck area of rats causes the dystrophic process development with an autoimmune component in the pathogenesis both in irradiated salivary glands, and in those being shielded. During the course of radiation therapy and during the two-years period after its completion The gradual decrease of salivation, lipid peroxide oxydation process activation antioxidant defense decrease in the oral fluid and blood of the patients characterize the main manifestations. The infringement of the immune homeostasis in the T-supressive immunodeficiency. These changes in salivary glands are explained as radiation sialosis. The curing and preventive complex in the combination of vilosenum, dibunolum and radix Ginseng c omplex fincture has been adopted and used in the clinic, it being rather effective for the prevention and treatment radiation sialosis.
