The theoretical and practical dana are presented concerning the comparative study of the intensive and aetensive methods of breeding the sows of the Poltava meat, Big white and Mirgorodskaya breeds. In an outcome of the carried out researches it was established, that, studying the body mass and linear measurement in age dynamics, the better indexes were of the intensive breed sows.
