Essay

There were examined 138 patients with chronic alcoholic hepatitis and the alcoholic liver cirrhosis with the aim of substantiation the possibility of the usage of the indicators of the water-soluble vitamin content in blood and daily urine for more precise definition of heaviness of alcoholic liver disease and for monitoring the efficiency of their treatment by various groups of mediсines. Defficiency of the above-mentioned vitamins was revealed biochemically in all and, clinically, in a part of chronic alcoholic hepatitis and alcoholic cirrhosis patients, as well as a greater vitamin B1, B2, B6, urinari excretion in alcoholic cirrhosis patients than that in chronic alcoholic hepatitis, what can be used as an additional diagnostic test for alcoholic liver disease. Preparations ("Undevit" and "Essentiale") proved to be more clinically efficient than membrane-protecting medicines ("Hepatofalc Planta"). Water-soluble vitamin supply in the patients with chronic alcoholic hepatitis can be a reliable criteri um for monitoring the efficiency of their treatment by vitamin-containing mediсines.
