3. The dissertation is devoted to pharmacological and biophysical studies of ionic currents of myocytes from resistance mesenteric arteries normotensive and genetically hypertensive rats. It was found that 4-AP-sensitive component of outward current was smaller in the myocytes from hypertensive rats. SMCs of normotensive rats had a mean resting potential of -38 mV and depolarized by 4-AP (5 mM), but not by TEA (1 and 10 mM). The density of inward current was significantly increased in resistance mesenteric arteries from hypertensive rats. The steady-state inactivation curve of IBa was shifted 3 mV positively in hypertensive animals. The amplitude of the window current was increased in myocytes from hypertensive rats.
