Gel'mut V. Economic Transformations in Postsocialist Countries (examplified by the republics of the former USSR)

The thesis is devoted to the examination of the problems of the essence, characteristic features, dynamics and prospects of economic transformations in transitive societies of the post-soviet countries. Theoretical and methodological aspects of economic transformations, their concepts and models are examined and elucidated. On the basis of the rating of elected indices a comparative economic analysis of the processes of economic transformation during 1994-1998 and the succeeding period was carried out. Special part of the thesis is devoted to the investigation of the state, consequences and prospects of market transformations in Ukraine in the context of the course of radical economic reforms (proclaimed in 1994) and the state of realization of contemporary economic and social strategy for the years 2000-2004. It is pointed out that in the centre of this strategy is the innovation model which is the dicisive factor of economic growth and integration into the world economy.
