The dissertation is devoted to the investigation of the theoretical and practical aspects of monetary integration in the European Union. The essences of the European monetary integration, evolution of its development, the specific role of the subjective factor in registration of monetary integration are analyzed and determined in the dissertation. The essence of the mechanism of monetary integration is investigated; its basic components and features, principles of monetary integration are characterized. The estimation of consequences of introduction of common European currency Euro is given, the possible prospects of development of EU and common currency area are determined
