Essay

Dissertation has been aimed to develop the additional objective criteria for the severity of the pathological process in childhood bronchial asthma. Deriving from the state of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant defense in the peripheral blood at different periods of the disease, it has been established various kinds of imbalances, which correlates to the severity and the course of bronchial asthma. The inhibition of superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathionperoxidase, growth in concentration of lipid hydroperoxides, ketodienes, Thiobarbituric acid conjugates is associated with advanced course of the disease, augmentation in airflow and hemodynamic disorders in lungі, and otherwise. Taking into account particular forms of free radical imbalance, it has been proposed the use of these values for the assessment of the severity of childhood asthma, and for making prognosis for its course and the efficacy of sodium cromoglycate administration
