Essay

The dissertation is based on the materials of experi-mental investigations of light interaction with magnetic inhomogeneities of doped crystalline ferrite-garnet are presented in the frame of the thesis. The results of such interaction were changes of optical, magnetic, mechanical characteristics of the material as well as changes of characteristics of the light itself (distribution of intensity and polarization in the diffraction spectrum). The effects of light-induced reconstruction of the domain structure at low temperatures in bulk monocrystals and at room temperatures in epitaxial films were studied. Light induced magnetization, anisotropy, strain of the films were measured with the developed high-resolved magneto-optical methods. That is allowed to conclude a piezomagnnetic mechanism of the effect, to evaluate the optima film parameters for the effect manifestation and to develope the optical devices for imaging and measuring characteristics of inhomogeneous magnetic fields, in particular light -sensitive magneto-optical sensors.
