Essay

This thesis is devoted to clarify of causes of the arising the macroscopic effects of the optical activity in the incommensurately modulated phases of dielectric crystals. Тhe nature of spatial dispersion in incommensurate phases of the A2BX4 family crystals and the consequences of the influence of spatial inhomogeneity of ferroelectrics caused by the present incommensurate modulation on the optical gyration effects are studied and predicted. The ionic components of the gyration are determined. The mesoscopic constitutive equation is grounded and analyzed.
