Essay

The thesis deals with a topical task to improve the efficiency of the supporting treatment and immunorehabilitation in a combined antitumor therapy based on the application of Blasten, a new immunomodulator of a microbial origin. For the first time, Blasten is shown to exert a dose-dependent effect on the activity of effectors of specific immunity and natural resistance. It is proved that one mechanism of Blasten's effect on the induced hemodepression is mediated through activated production of IL 1 and TNF. Blasten is shown to be capable of reducing the adverse effect of an alkylating chemopreparation cyclophosphamide on the epithelium of crypts in the small intestine and to alleviate dyspeptic disturbances that accompany antitumor therapy. Based on clinical and laboratory findings, Blasten is proved to be efficient as a drug for supporting therapy and immunorehabilitation in patients with breast cancer.
