Essay

The dissertation is devoted to an analysis of the rhythmic and metric organization of the poetry of Vasyl Stus. Through a study of mechanisms of communication and features of interaction between the metrics and other levels of structure of the text, the main tendencies and principles of modeling of his poems written in various metrical systems are defined, testifying to the originality of the poet's versification. Moreover, the dissertation considers the problem of a ratio of poetry and prose in poems recorded in prose form and in free verse ("verse libre") from the viewpoint of structural semiotics. Special attention is devoted in analysis of V.Stus's free verse to an examination of the process of destruction of the poetic form, which is reconceptualized at different levels of the textual structure: lexical, intonational and syntactic, logic and rhythmic.
