The dissertation dwells upon the study of the nature of the category of evaluation in the philosophic and linguistic conceptions/ the explication of the category of evaluation is carried out at the lexico-semantic, morphological and syntactical levels. The necessity of the definition of the denotative and connotative axiological verbal semantic is substantiated. The peculiarities of the linguistic realization of the verbal means of the evaluation category in fiction are investigated. Lexico-semantic fields of the evaluation category are defined and systematically described.
