Physical phenomena in 3D waveguide unhomogeneities is under consideration. The aim of the work is to reveal a mechanism of forming the iris resonant characteristics. Numerical methods for boundary-value problem solution have been used. For the first time the simplest, namely two-slot , configuration of a rejection iris was found; the mechanism of resonant phenomena, consisting in the excitation of natural frequencies, has been revealed; a bandstop filter with the shortest resonant sections has been proposed. Radiophysics and radiolocation are an application area.
