Essay

The thesis is devoted to questions of rising of efficiency of treatment and prophylaxis of periodontal diseases in children with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. High prevalence of diffuse chronic catarrhal gingivitis was revealed in these children. Prevalence of gingivitis correlated with duration and compensation of diabetes. Reduction of the contents of immunoglobulins G, M, A and secretory immunoglobulin A in saliva, increase of medium cytochemical coefficient of heterophilic leukocytes from gum blood, decrease of alkaline phosphatase activity and increase of acid phosphatase activity in oral liquid were observed. These changes correlated with duration and compensation of diabetes. The scheme of gingivitis treatment and generalised periodontitis prophylaxis in these children was worked out. This scheme included application of vibroacustic apparatus "Vitafon".
