The analysis of Ivan Franko's philosophic writings made it possible to reveal the notions "ideal", "genesis of ideal", to comprehend the contents and components of the concept "national ideal", to render the Kamenyar's views on the problem of accomplishment and non-accomplishment of the ideals, their role in the activities of the individual, people, mankind. The negative role of denationalization as a destructive factor in Ukrainian nation building has been studied; Ivan Franko's vision of the ideal of a leader and freedom of nation as based on the analysis of his poem "Moses" has been dwelled upon.
