Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the problem of production of potassium nitrate - complex nonballast mineral fertilizer - according to a new technology from potassium chloride and nitrogen acid using chlor-ions of regenerable manganese oxides as an oxidizing agent. While studying kinetics of potassium nitrate generation it has been revealed that in whole the reactions are of the second degree. On a laboratorial scale the main process variables are determined and the following processes are perfected: potassium nitrate synthesis with the production of desired product; ammonization of manganese nitrate solutions with ammonia; oxidation of manganese (2+) with oxygen in ammoniated solutions; recovery of manganese oxides with their following return to a closed process cycle. On the basis of the results obtained in laboratory experiments an experimental-industrial plant of potassium nitrate production was designed and built up according to the developed simple, modern, efficient, environmentally appropriate t echnology.
