The thesis is dedicated to investigation of structural, semantic and functional peculiarities of proper names in modern German. Considering proper names as a bilateral language unit, great attention is attached to the analysis of both formal and meaningful aspects. Semantics of proper names is analised in details and analysis of a proper name, its functional peculiarities in a language and also processes of appelativation in modern German are considered.
