Essay

The thesis contains the results of the studies of phase equilibria in the ternary systems Pb(Hg)-Sb-O. The phase diagrams have been established for the subsystems PbO-Sb2O3 (Sb2O4, Sb2O5). It was established that the intermediate phase PbSb2O4 of tetragonal structure exists in the PbO-Sb2O3 subsystem. Thе subsystem PbO-Sb2O4 is characterized by formation of two intermediate phases: PbSb2O5 and Pb3Sb2O7. In the subsystem PbO-Sb2O5 two intermediate phases were found: PbSb2O6 and Pb2Sb2O7. Of these compounds - PbSb2O4, PbSb2O5 and PbSb2O6 melt congruently, Pb3Sb2O7 and Pb2Sb2O7 – incongruently. Existence of one compound, Hg2Sb2O7 of the pyrochlore structure type, was established in the ternary system Hg-Sb-O. The optimized technique was developed for obtaining the compound. Studies of the subsystem HgO-Sb2O3 showed that starting compounds interact in Red-Ox reaction, and ternary phases do not exist. The methods of quantitative determination of the elements of the complex oxides existing in the ternary sys tems Pb(Hg)-Sb-O were developed. Keywords: phase equilibria, complex oxides, crystal structure, ternary compounds.
