Essay

The dissertation is devoted to prognosis of adverse clinical course follicular cysts of the jawbones (FC) and similar in their clinical manifestations odontogenic keratocysts (OKC). At present, OKC practically cannot be diagnosed due to difficulties in their clinical, roentgenological and even pathohystological diagnosis since they are aggressive and require individualized therapeutic tactics. According to our data FC give 15% of odontogenic cysts of the jawbones, while OKC - 4,2%. The work is based on the study of 175 FC and 49 OKC, its purpose being to reveal the clinicomorphologic features determining their clinical course and prognosis. Clinical, roentgenological, pathohystological criterea of FC and OKC differential diagnosis have been developed. The features determining adverse clinical course and prognosis of FC and OKC have been found out.
