Essay

Object: hypothyroidism at the effect of low radiation doses in endemic Precarpathian area. The work is aimed on developing the system of diagnostic screening for hypo thyroidism and studying some questions of hypothyroidism pathogenesis. Methods and apparatus: clinical, biochemical, morphological; electron microscope, ultratom. Theoretical and practical results: radiation-endemic conditions of Precarpathian area contribute the increased morbidity with hypothyroidism. Such increase are by experimental data mediated by growing pathohistological changes in the thyroid gland. The new: pathogenetic aspects of the low dose radiation effect on thyroid gland in endemic regions are studied. The level of approach: a proposed screening-method for active detection of hypothyroidism can be used for evaluation of the thyroid gland disease in radiation as well as non-radiation endemic areas. Field of application: endocrinology.
