Matsyuk T. Computed Tomography with the use of pharmacologic medications while determining the local spread of gastric cancer.

The dissertation deals with the question of computed tomography (CT) with the application of pharmacologic medications in a preoperative evaluation of local spreading of malignant gastric tumours. The research is based on an analysis of verified results of a CT-examination of 109 patients with gastric cancer. A technique of a gastric CT examination has been elaborated under conditions of artificial change of its tonus and motility. A correlation analysis of the results of a CT examination without a change of the gastric tonus and with the use of pharmacologic medications has been carried out in two statistically identical groups according to the age, sex, histologic structure, localization, forms of anatomical growth and developmental stages of the gastric malignant process with the determination of the efficacy indices for every technigue. The efficacy of the proposed technigue of a CT examination with the use of pharmacologic medication, while determining the depth of intramural invasion of gastric cancer and extending the malignant process into the surrounding organs, has been proved.
