Essay

Object of study: grain-oriented silicon steel sheets (Fe-3%Si sheets) and cores of these sheets. Aim: the detection of the relation between magnetostatic fields Hm created by air gaps in joints of silicon steel sheets in cores and by grain boundaries in g. o. steel sheets, magnetization distribution in steel sheets near the sources of the fields and magnetic performances of the cores. Methods: induction method of measurements of magnetic fields and an induction (magnetization) distribution; longitudinal Kerr effect for the domain structure observation; the wattmeter's method for the core loss measurements; method of magnetic scalar potential for analytical calculations of the fields Нm. Results, novelty: it was detected, that the gap-stray fields is the superposition of the fields of surface 'magnetic charges' Hsur, caused by abrupt in the normal component of magnetization ?Mn at end surfaces of sheets, forming a gap, and the fields of the volume 'magnetic charges' Hvol, caused by the inhomogeneity ofmagnetization divM?0 in the volumes of sheets close to air gaps; magnetization distribution near the grain boundaries in silicon steel sheets was investigated for the first time, and the discontinuities in the net magnetization at the grain boundaries were not observed: ?Mn=0; the calculations of the stray fields associated with the inhomogeneities of magnetization (divM(r)?0) near the boundaries were carried out for the first time; the influence of the fields Hm generated by the grain boundaries and by air gaps on magnetization processes of cores of g. o. silicon steel sheets was studied, and the leading role of the longitudinal component (along the rolling direction and external fields) of these fields in this influence was detected for the first time Field of implementation: magnetism, physics of soft magnetic materials, transformers.
