Object of research: the monetary authorities (central banks). The purpose of research: development of theoretical and practical bases of a foreign exchange and gold reserves management. Methods of research: it is used methods of the theory of probabilities and mathematical statistics, modeling, an expert estimations. Theoretical and practical results: The forms and methods of the foreign exchange and gold reserves management are presented. The necessity of income accumulation in the foreign exchange and gold reserves management is proved. The concrete ways of introduction of modern investment management techniques in the process of the foreign exchange and gold reserves management is established. The methodological aspects of increasing of performance of the foreign exchange and gold reserves management is developed. Novelty of research: The methodical aspects of implementing of investments benchmarks in the foreign exchange and gold reserves management is developed, which can serve in risk managementand in extraction of "adding value" of qualified personnel and good investments decision. Dependence of imvestment parameters of the foreign exchange reserves on their purpose and relative size is specified. The estimation of effectiveness of the foreign exchange and gold reserve management method is advanced. Degree of introduction: Scientific and practical conclusions and recommendations are used by the National Bank of Ukraine and by the Institute of economics and law "CROC" by preparation of statutory acts, methodological support of the foreign exchange dealers' course. Sphere of use: the Monetary policy, the monetary and financial markets.
