Essay

The solvent effects on the heterolysis of the 1-bromo-1-methylcyclopentane, -hexane, 1-chloro-1-methylcyclopentane and -hexane in wide range (34-42) of protic and aprotic solvents were studied by verdazyl method. The differences between the rates of heterolyses of the tertiary derivatives of cyclopentane and cyclohexane strongly depends on solvent and changes by several order depending on the polarity of the solvent. The solvent has a stronger influence on the rate of heterolysis of the 1-bromo-1-methylcycloalkanes than on the rate for the 1-chloro-1-methylcycloalkanes.
