3. The dissertation is the first attempt in Ukrainian literary criticism to explore the ideological and artistic peculiarities of tragedy of English dramatists of one third of the XVIIth century. The dissertation is divided into two sections, the first devoted primarily to the style of mannerism, the second to the early Baroque and the tragedies by B.Jonson bear obvious of classical influence. English tragedy of the first one third of the XVII century manifests a synthesis of the artistic trend of the age.
