Essay

2 new nononuclear and 14 new tri- and tetranuclear nickel(II) complexes were synthesized. New reaction of covalent oxime-nitrile coupling was found. Method of synthesis of new class of macrocyclic complexes was developed. Complexes were studied by the methods of mass-spectrometry, X-ray structural analysis, electronic spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and by the methods of magnetochemistry. Systematic analysis of magnetochemical, spectral and redox-properties of prepared compounds was performed. It was found that introduction of electron-withdrawing substituents in ligands weakens antiferromagnetic interactions between nickel(II) ions and in some cases results in appearance of ferromagnetic interactions. New trinuclear complex with metamagnetic properties was found. For tri- and tetranuclear complexes reversible one- and two-electron redox-processes were found, which can be assigned to pairs Ni(3+)/Ni(2+).
