Essay

A comprehensive study on synthesis of the metal-containing saponite- and stevensite-like materials under non-hydrothermal conditions was performed. The main regularities of the formation of structure and active sites, as well as a correlation between synthesis conditions and physico-chemical and catalytic properties of those materials were etablished. It was found that the nature of divalent cation significantly influences the formation rate, morfhology, texture and thermal stability of the materials synthesized. A novel procedure for modification of synthetic cationic clays were determined. A high efficiency of the developed catalysts in the industrially important processe, viz. oil fraction hydrodesulfurisation (HDS), alcohol hydroamination, and amide synthesis was demonstrated.
