Essay

Galvanic ozone and nitrogen dioxide sensors have been theoretically grounded and actually fabricated for the first time on the basis of the gas-diffusion titanium indication electrode, the matrix electrolyte of solution of lithium bromide and the counter electrode of antimony oxides. The response time, resolution, effective range, selectivity and service life of the offered sensors exceed the performance of the known analogues. The sensors have been implemented in the manufacture of gas analysers designed to monitor the air of the industrial working areas, health care institutions and residential areas. An electrochemical feeder of an air-ozone mixture has been created. Ozone decomposition is shown to involve an electrochemical mechanism including conjugate reactions of ozone reduction and water oxidation.
