Essay

The subordinate Clause, investigated on the material of English belles-lettres and publucistic sources. The aim is the description of the main characteristics of subordinate clauses. The methods are probabilistic-statistic, descriptive, the methods of comparison and synthesis, induction and formalization. The results will be useful in dealing with the problems of functional syntax and text linguistics. They may be employed in lectures and practical lessons. For the first time frequency of subordinate clauses behaviour was imvestigated on the presented material. The sphere of usage is high school.
