Essay

The dissertation presents the results published in 14 papers, in which the current star formation rates and integrated galaxy characteristics in the far infrared range are derived from IRAS data and investigated for starburst galaxies from the First and Second Byurakan survey. The model comprising galaxy with old star population and star-forming regions is proposed to account for the far infrared characteristics of the blue compact dwarf galaxies. The power law of the surface brightness with radius is adopted for the underlying galaxy.
