Object - British governments home policy in 50-80-th years of the XX century and activity of the British trade unions in the social and economic sphere. The aim - to depict the British state policy concerning trade unions and to analyse its features on each of stages of legal regulation of trade unions activity in 50-80-th years of the XX century. Methods - comparative- historical, problem -chronological, historical, logic, classification. The new approach lies for the first time systematized analysis of the basic tendencies of the British governments policy in the sphere of industrial relations in 1951-1990 years is given considering necessity of complex research of this problem. Results - three forms of trade union policy of Britain state during the investigated period are distinguished and analysed. Factors predetermining the tactics of the British governments concerning trade-union movement are elicited. The legislative documents of the British governments regarding the sphere of industrial relations are analysed. The consequences of British governments policy for trade union movement are determined.
