Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to studying the effect of strain non- uniformity on the electrode potential distribution along interfaces between elastic non-ferromagnetic conductive bodies and conductive liquid mediums. There has been proposed a mathematical model to quantify the electric and electrode potentials on the boundary of metal bodies' plane surfaces, and along the circular contour of the body-to-medium contact, depending on the value of static mechanical loads. The derived relations allow to evaluate the impact of elastic strains on the corrosion-caused destruction of metals, and thus to calculate the corrosion stability in order to forecast the durability of metal items and structural elements which work under operational conditions.
