In the dissertation the issues of the history of the institution of judicial costs in the criminal procedure of Ukraine, definition of judicial costs, their structure and classification are considered. A considerable attention is paid to the analysis of legal norms, which regulates the procedure of calculation and compensation of judicial costs, their recovery from the people found guilty of crime. The author is gives recommendations to the improvement of the criminal-procedural legislation of Ukraine in terms of the structure of judicial costs, their calculation, compensation and recovery.
