The dissertation is dedicated to researching the concept "fiction", to revealing the main regularities of its setting/formation, to analyzing the main peculiarities of its notional and terminological expression in Ukrainian and English literary criticism. Outlines the characteristics of terms formed historically and presented as the axioms. The author trys to investigate the chronology of the notion "fiction" in original Ukrainian texts. The author proposed her own Ukrainian versions of the term "fiction".
