Thesis is devoted to the issues of the creation of new method of prompt evaluation of the degree of stress state of close-to-long wall area of rock massif with the purpose of forecasting possible occurring of sudden outburst of coal and gas. Laws of dependence of probing signal spectral elements on the level of mechanical tensions in the field investigated have been discovered. It is shown that the most informative characteristic, which reflects a degree of a stress state of this field is the relation between the spectral components of the acoustic signals The method and control apparatus have been worked out and put into operations
