Prutchykova V. Semantic and Functional Peculiarities of the German Proverbial Expression

The object of research is proverbial expressions in modern German language. The aim of research is a complex system investigation of semantic and functional properties of German proverbial expressions as nominative communicative units in their static and dynamic aspects. The methods of research are semantic-syntactic and descriptive-analytic, contextual and communicative intention analysis. Theoretical results and the novelty of the work lie in the fact that it stimulates the development of a new structural-semantic and communicative-pragmatic paradigm in linguistics; improves the knowlege about systemic paradigmatic and syntagmatic aspects of proverbial expressions, their multiaspect, multifunctional and variable character. The research novelty of the work arizes from the fact that it is the first to supply systemic description of semantic, communicative and pragmatic peculiarities of proverbial expressions viewed as strategies of speech influence; the first to define typical semantic, communicative and rhythmic intonation pattern of proverbial expressions; the first to reveal the peculiarities of functional perspective of proverbial expressions as communicative autosemantic speech units; to define the pragmatic and semantic potential of proverbial expressions; the first to reveal the mechanism of forming proverbial expressions' illocutionary force and their discourse realization. Practical results grant the possibility of using the main results and data of this investigation in teaching practice in lectures on theoretical grammar, lexicology, stylistics of the German language and practical German, in special courses of pragmatics and social linguistics, speech act theory. The object and level of implementation: the results obtained were put into practice of tuition of higher educational establishments. The sphere of usage is philology, education-tuition, higher educational establishments.
