This dissertation highlights the structural, semantic and pragmatic peculiarities of interviews in modern English press in argumentative, communicative, pragmatic and cognitive perspective The paper suggests the prototype model of interview, which combines functional and structural parameters. Journalistic interview is regarded as a hybrid secondary text possessing the features of a report. According to the degree of report resemblance infiltrative, contaminative, amalgamative and accommodative interview texts have been defined. In the thesis communicative strategies and tactics of the interviewer and the interviewee have been examined.
