Kozlovs'ka G. Pragmatic Aspect of the Category of Informativeness in the English Synoptic Texts of Newspaper Journalistic Style

The object of this research is the English synoptic texts of newspaper journalistic style, i.e. newspaper weather forecast reports (NWFR). The aim of research is to distinguish the essence of the category of informativeness (CI) in the English NWFR taking into account the text’s genre, composition and content peculiarities, to identify the specificity of pragmatic aspect of informing in NWFR. Methods of investigation are hypothetical-deductive and descriptive-analytical; pragmatic, contextual, syntactical, stylistic, compositional, semantic and statistic analyses. The structure of the CI as well as its form, content and pragmatic peculiarities are revealed in NWFR; as a result of a complex lexical, syntactical, compositional, semantic and pragmatic analysis of NWFR its model of composition and content is worked out; the efficiency of information realization in NWFR is analyzed; verbal and non-verbal means of reaching a pragmatic effect in NWFR are systematized. The results of this research can be usedin the theoretical courses of lexicology , stylistics of the English language, in the special courses of text linguistics and pragmalinguistics.
