Essay

The methods of calculation of static as well as of non-stationary electrical fields, while taking into account the dielectrical and conducting properties of an insulator material, presence on a surface of free charges, their sources, the poorly conducting films are advanced. The laws of fields formation in the standoff insulation and of charge distributions formation on insulator surface are determined. The model and criterion of flashover initiation are proposed, in case of a slowly increasing voltage.
