Essay

The dissertation focuses on prosodic characteristics of rhythm units in English short story texts. In a prosaic literary work these textual elements are: rhythm groups, syntagms, phrases, intraphrasal and superphrasal units. The rhythm units are singled out on the basis of their commensurable and similar prosodic component organization. There are integral hierarchy relations between micro- and macrorhythm units founded on the graduality, "golden section" and binary principles. The new data on the specificity of prosodic organization of logic and semantic text parts testify to the interaction of prosody and semantics.
