Kopystyra A. Shadow economic processes in the countries of the European Union

This Dissertation investigates theoretical and practical aspects of the shadow economy in the countries of the European Union. Theoretical conceptions for definition of the shadow economy, functioning of the shadow markets, methods for estimation of the size of the shadow economy in a state, reasons and dynamic of development of the shadow economy in the countries of the EU have been analysed. With the help of mathematic modelling method the mutual influence of corruption and integration processes within the economic union on the example of the EU have been investigated. The author characterized methods of counteraction against the spread of the shadow economy in European Union at communitarian, regional and national levels. Main reasons for rapid growth of the shadow economy in transitional post-Soviet countries and in Ukraine, in particular, have been identified. New conception of shadow parastate has been put forward and belonging of Ukraine to this kind of macroeconomic structure was shown. The author conducted an analysis of positive experience of the EU in the field of Ukrainian shadow economy transformation as a necessary condition for Ukraine's integration with the EU.
