Essay

Dissertation is dedicated to studying the ultrasound characteristics of the neoplasms of the thyroid gland. It is based on the results of examination of 228 patients, operated on due to the different types of benign (122) and malignant (106) nodular diseases of the thyroid gland. Ultrasound signs of nodules were retrospectively confronted with results of final pathology examination. Analyzes of existing ultrasound signs of nodules has been carried out, especial attention has been paid towards studying their morphological grounds. Ultrasound characteristics of nodules were studied in detail - their shape, echogenicity, borders, cystic lesions, and presence of enlarged lymph nodules.
